Reading TBN is expensive!

I had survived for 28 yrs of taking care of my 15 acres with just a 1986 Yamaha quad runner, a 4' x 8' trailer, Log splitter, and a Cub Cadet lawnmower. I started researching used tractors in Oct 2013 on TBN. In the 5 months since I've bought a new tractor (I couldn't find a good used one) and 7' back blade and looking to buy pallet forks, & a stump bucket soon. I've built a work platform for some pallet forks I don't even own yet. I have been lurking in the welding forum lately and now I need to buy a welder to fab & mod my "stuff" (I haven't welded in 30yrs) I am kind of excited to try welding again ,I was pretty good back then. My wife has started calling me "all tractor all the time" , but she does see how much work we will get done around here and how much easier our chores will be.
It will make things a lot easier here that's for sure, all in all, best move I've made in a long time, should have done it many years ago. Please excuse my ramble, I'm not bit**in , actually it is a new but expensive passion. Am I going crazy or do other people suffer from this disease?

Oh you poor bugger... welcome to the club. This site will (and has) ensnared you into the "I Never Knew That I Needed That" vortex. It's a slippery slope, Mate.

And it's not just the things/projects you can do with your tractor but the peripheral stuff too. Have you thought about how many new tools you're going to need in your work-shed? Yes, there's a thread here that lists all of the basic tools/stuff you'll need, according to the combined wisdom and experience of TBN Members.

The first one is just an investment in a new way of life. It doesn't get expensive until you decide you want a bigger one ,,,,, for the third time.

Yep, I'm guilty of this as well. I lurked here for a long time, bought an 8N to drag snow, skid trees, brush hog, etc, then realized I needed way more machine. So, I bought my LS, then my Massey, new pallet forks, two different used rotary cutters (looking for a bigger one now), a used rake, a 90" RFM, an 8' back blade, a carryall, a trailer mover, an oxy/acetylene cutting torch setup, a welder/generator, and built a 1,350lb counterweight with steel bought for the project. I did sell the 8N and then the 6' blade, and 5' brush hog that with it.

I'm looking to replace my rake with one of EA's V 3.0 landscape rakes, and add a Wicked Grapple....and probably other stuff my check book doesn't want me thinking about. Luckily, I've gotten so much done that I've saved a bunch of money compared with hiring out the jobs, or renting equipment, that my wife is very supportive. She really needs her own SCUT for gardening
