I have some leftover Kubota UDT from the 50 hour service last year and am ready for the 200 hour. Since I'm outside my warranty period I need some opinions:
1) Do I truly need to run the high dollar UDT (even more for SUDT)?
2) Can I mix the left over UDT with another type of hydraulic fluid from Tractor supply or Northern?
3) Should I change the front axle fluid to something different?

I'm in northern SC and temperatures get hot and only freeze on few occasions.

Thanks!

200 hour is just engine oil change, at least for the BX23. Hydro changes are 300 hr.

1. UDT will work, SUDT works better (in the majority of user opinions, including mine).
2. You can do anything (this is America after all), but I wouldn't use anything but Kubota fluids in the HST. Very expensive heart of the machine.
3. Many people change the axle juice to 80W90 gear oil. Cheaper, works great, less likely to leak.

No- but I prefer to be safe and have OEM stuff in my bota since its such a small tractor. If I was running a bigger tractor that requires alot of it, yeah , ill go with cheaper stuff since it really adds up.

Are you really serious? I dont mix brands, esp when oil rating of same wieght are different. I would only do so in a pinch, and I have done it in other equipment. When doing a real oil change, its a nice peice of mind to have one kind of stuff going in.

3) Should I change the front axle fluid to something different?
you can, but again on the small tractors, I dont see the point of switching. Its easier to have one stuff on hand for everything. why have 4 bottles of different oils and ratings and when in a pinch , you dont have the right stuff ? I'd only switch if you are having problems.

I am sure you heard of old adage- if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've been getting S U D T for 5 years at my kubota dealer .
The other day I wanted 15 quarts .

I bought all the SUDT he had in stock which consisted of 2 1 Gallon Jugs and 5 1 quart bottles for a total of 13 quarts thus leaving me 2 quarts short .

Your winter temperatures in SC are similar to mine in SE - Pennsylvania. For my choice I believe the SUDT works better in winter. I may just be unaware of the summer benefits though. The 2.5 gallon jug works just fine. I don稚 have any experience with TSC transmission fluid but have noticed a number of posts regarding underperforming characteristics. I have exchanged fluid in my 2000 - BX2200 twice and figured any savings for the fluid would not be work the risk.

I concurr...I even buy Kubota oil..Stupid, I know. But if a lubrication issue ever comes up, I can prove it was their stuff in there. It ain't worth the risk, especially on the SUDT.
