It was 0 degrees this morning.
I wanted to move my tractor out of the shop to complete the fabrication of my snow plow mount.
The shop is not heated and I figured this might be a "battle" to get her started but lo and behold it started right up.
'Just cycled the glow plugs 3 times and hit the starter and away she went, no block heater or anything.
I am planning to get a heater but I haven't yet.
There's two kinds of luck; 'guess I had the good kind today.

I went out this morning just to start my TC18. Had been since late November I guess since it's been run. Battery a little weak, but after 2 attempts with the glow plugs, started up. I was pleased too!!! Also found a hydraulic leak while it warmed up, so that's all fixed now too /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have had a diesel tractor for many years. When the battery was new it would start without any problems.

I installed a block heater on my Kubota B 2910 this fall. Yesterday morning it was -5 Fahrenheit out. Plugged the heater in for about a hour. Tractor started up easier than it does at 40 degrees with no heater. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I don't know why I waited so long to install a heater. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
It only took a few minutes and cost was less than $50. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It is a Kubota heater that I bought from Carver Equipment.

My TC29D came with a block heater, but have not untied it yet to use it. I probable should for the days that I do leave it sit outside. Typcially when it sits outside and then I use it, it will end up in a heated space.

On Saturday I went out to see if my lttle tractor would start. It was about 12 degrees. She popped right off. Smoked and knocked a little. Once warm I took it for a ride out in the field. My wife caught me....she said I was nuts to be outside in the cold on a tractor just to ride it. I just smiled back. I thought it was a great time!

I know what you mean, these new machines are easy to start. I popped mine off the other morning at -22 with two cycles on the glow plugs, never even coughed. The hydraulics on the other hand, took quite a while to warm up to the point where it wouldn't "cry". I just took it easy and soon enough (20 minutes of running), it was working like it was 50 degrees.

Here's a question - I've yet to put any fuel additives into what has come from the pump. Our fuel is winterized around here, so I figured I was all set. Am I flirting with disaster?

asked the same question a week or so back, i just use the fuel as i get it, and in 3 years i have never had a problem, of course around here it don't get much below 0 deg. on areally cold day about -5 but that is only once in awhile
