Rear blade for 3016

We are loving our new 3016 and want to expand our implement collection. I want a rear blade to push snow in the winter and grade the driveway in the summer. What width should I be looking at? 6 ft? 7 ft? We don't have TSC or other neat stores nearby, only what the dealers have in stock. Is the Mahindra med duty blade okay, or should I look at the Land Pride or Howse that other dealers carry?

I would get a 7 footer. That way when you are grading with the blade angled, you are covering your tracks.
I do like the Howse products. I like the "slider" blade myself.

I have a TSC 6 foot blade and it does just fine. Even with the R4 tires, it's wider than the tractor and doesn't have a width problem, except on sharp turns which will happen even with a 7 footer.

I plowed over 100 inches of snow with it last winter and have not wished for a wider one yet.

I'd go 7' also for the light work of grading loose stone and snow as you describe. And if all you are doing is light drive maintenance and snow, it dont need to be anything super heavy either. Lighter is actually better IMO for snow and light drive maintenance as it dont dig in too much.

Now dirt is a different story, and heavy is what you want.

Measure your width at the rear wheels, and then multiply by 1.15 to get the minimum blade size needed. That will ensure that the blade covers your tracks when angled 30 degrees. Can go wider than that (not too wide) but definitely not narrower.

For snow removal, the basic TSC blade is just fine -- that's what I bought. If you plan to do some heavy dirt work, however, put the money into something stouter.

Thanks for the info. Width at the rear wheels = 63". 63x1.15=72.45/12=6.03'

Based on that (and the dealer advice) I bought a 6' Mahindra offset blade. It's med duty ~350lbs, but will be easy to adjust and versatile. I'll get it delivered tomorrow!

Now I need to save up for more!
