Is a RB1684 rear blade a good choice?

I need to clean out all the dirt that has filled up my driveway ditches. I need tilt.

Depends on what you want to use it for. If for snow removal, yea it will be about perfect IMO. But for hard dirt work, I think 7' is too much and I also think it is a bit light. I think a RB2672 would be a better fit. It is still on the light side for ballast when using the FEL. (FEL and blade work go hand in hand). But the 26 series would be stronger. I would be afraid of tweaking the 16 in dirt.

One of the things that makes a blade work well is the weight of it and the heavier the better. Of course the tractor has to be able to effeciently pull it. Over the years I have tried several of them and have found that adding a couple of old tractor weights to the blade or blade frame can make a big difference in performance if the blade doesn't weigh enough.

I had a RB1572 when I owned my B3200 TLB and it worked good for snow and top soil. I now have a Grand L3540 and a RB3584 and what a big difference, you can see and feel, no need to worry about bending moldboard on this one. Heavy ? yes but I like to buy once for each current tractor.

How did the 15 series hold up?? Or did you just use it for snow or loose stuff?? Would you want to use a blade that light with a L3400??

I'm kinda odd in my set-up. I have a 7' blade that weighs more than a 35 or 36 series and as much as a 40 series behind my little 3400. I really like the weight and just knowing that there is no way I am going to kill this blade. I only wish is was a 6' blade for hard digging.

Born and raised in Canton area, college in Athens, lived awhile in Columbus, and finally Mt. Vernon before I got transferred to CA at young age of 35. Wished I never left but now all kids and grandkids are in Southern CA so AZ is as far as I'm going. :)

Mt. Vernon is my neck of the woods....sort of. I'm about 10 miles west of their. But frequent Mt. Vernon alot still.

I get back twice a year to visit Mom. She's in a Mennonite retirement home in Walnut Creek. Love that area - Holmes County.
