I've had and used a rear blade for years on my B7610 for snow removal. Its a KingKutter that I purchased from Tractor Supply.

I have the blade adjusted so the cutting edge sits flat when set in a normal (straight forward) position. However, when I angle the blade it never allows the cutting edge to sit flat. I have to adjust the right side lifting rod on the 3 pt. Always thought this was normal until I saw a video recently showing a rear blade being used for snow removal. The operator would simply angle the blade and the cutting edge would sit perfectly level regardless of the position. Hmmm, I thought :).

Messed around with mine. The cutting edge will simply not set level when angled without adjusting the right lift arm. What am I missing here? Has anyone else had the same experience?

Thanks,

Dave

Dascro - Try leveling your blade front to back by adjusting the top link. First, level the blade side to side as you normally do. Then turn the blade so that one end is pointed directly toward the tractor (90 degrees to normal operation) and level using the top link. Return the blade to normal position and recheck side to side. Adjust as required. You may have to repeat this alternating procedure several times to find the sweet spot. Best wishes!

My Woods has a certain amount of "slop" in it it that lets it follow contours to a point. Gauge wheel help a lot! I just let her down all the way and let the wheels carry the weight.

Thanks Rusty! Actually makes sense. And with all the snow we've been getting here in SW PA, let me tell you the blade (and tractor) is getting quite a workout. This will make the job a lot easier.

And independent verification always helps. :)

The top link and adjustable side link along with the angle of the tool all are factors.

If the rotating plate is not true to the ground in any direction, the blade will not uniformly contact the ground.

Add to that, that fact that if one side rides up it will lift the other as well thru the 3pt, you are well advised to get chains installed between the upper and lower links to allow "float" of the blade. This was suggested by other members in another thread recently (and I'm sure not the first time).

Since I bent the turnbuckle on the lower stay rod yesterday, today seems like a good day to remove all those rigid parts and go to chains with replacable turnbuckles. One side, the one I bent, was buggered up any way and would not adjsut nicely so now I have a "real" excuse :)
