Has anyone added side plates to your rear blade? It seems like a poor mans box. I can't afford a box right now and was considering side plates to help with some light grading behind the house (some small ruts from runoff) and thought that it may help with maintaining my gravel drive. Any thoughts?

Trackbar,
Woods sells them as optional equipment for their rear blades. Making a pair for my KK blade is on my to-do list, but not at the top (yet). Should allow for better bulk movement of material - or as you say - a poor man's BB. Wish I had a real BB, but other priorities make that a fairly distant objective.

that sounds like a project i would do :D. The only thing is what would be helpful is some sort of rippers or teeth to cut the hardpacked driveway. perhaps a row of railroad spikes utlitized in the front somehow? with a bar holding the spikes can be used to stablized the side plates you are wanting to install.

Woods also offers a heavy duty rake with optional flip down blade and end plates (& gauge wheels) that I'm considering for driveway maintenance, occasional gravel spreading/leveling, and general cleanup. So far I've not seen any postings by anyone who's got one and would like to offer an opinion about how well it works.

Eeek! I talked with my local Kubota dealer today and a pair of plates is $300! Either fab your own or buy a used box.

I have an old Servis (now Rhino) blade. I asked for a parts/instruction manual for it and got a 60's or so manual. It shows a then-optional set of teeth bar. I believe it bolted onto either the blade edge or was attached to the back. Hmmm, that may require a search of the local Bobcat dealer for a couple of mismatches.

I have the plates for my blade. They do help alot when moving gravel or plowing snow. I think they were only $110.
