Hello,

I have a tc35 with 16la loader. The tires are filled. What size counter weight should I make for the back? I plan on using concrete to make the weight. Does any one know the cubic foot weight of concrete cured? Much gratitude in advance.

Best Regards,
Steve

I have a 35A also and I have none loaded tires with only one set of rear wheel weights. I can scoop a full load of rock or dirt and only get a little lite in the rear. I do admit I need one more set to make it more stable when lifting heavy loads with the FEL. If you have a quick change bucket and plan on using pallet forks you will need more rear ballist weight. What I'm getting at is if you don't have the quick change setup and don't plan on using pallet forks your loaded tires should be enough ballist.

Steve, I kinda agree with Randy. I don't think you need concrete ballast. I think you need a boxblade. Heck, why would you put something on the 3PH that you can't do anything else with? A boxblade is good ballast and also a very good tool. You kill two birds with one stone.:D

Steve, I have a tc40 and I have to agree with the others. I use a disc on the back of mine. It comes in handy for loosening soil before I try to scoop it up. Normally that is. Right now I need tnt to loosen the soil. mp

Steve, my rears are also loaded. I have a commercially made 800 pound concrete counter weight I use with my TC35 when I'm doing a lot of heavy lifting or digging. Many prefer a box blade that makes sense when you are also loosening or leveling dirt. I like the counter weight because it's a bit more compact and I can get into tighter quarters.

Well lets see between the 3-point weight bar and the wheel weights there's 950 pounds hanging on the backside of our TC-40D. It's pretty stable.

I will say that interchanging the 7' box blade for the rear weight bar seems to keep loads in the FEL just as stable, there is no noticeable difference.

Probably wouldn't have spent the money on the weight bar, except when I'm working with pallet forks unloading a truck the weight bar is a lot narrower than the box blade giving me an extra margin of leeway when working around the house.

Mike,

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for your thoughts on counter weights. I appreciate your informed comments very much. I bought a nicely made counter weight localy for $40, less than the bar would have cost me at the local Dutch Mafia.

Best Regards,
Steve
