I've had some recent trouble with this and here is my take. I know you know it must be really clean but had to say it. Punch in quick disconnects in the "previous posts" forum and I picked up alot of tips. I'm new to qd's, and frankly, they are a little frustrating to me. They arn't all that quick when I can do it the old fashioned way quicker as well as put a "stub" connector hand tight to keep grime out and excess fluid in ya know? Anyway, that doesn't help you but this might! I stopped by a hydraulic hose place recently and saw a pump on the wall with a guage on it, i asked "whats this for" They proceeded to to show me the new disconnect systems that are out now. 2 Types 1. for heavy equip., yes heavier than ours and real $$. But they looked trick- you just screw the qd's on i'd say 5 turns, the last one locking in the system to get it truly connected, all with bare hands no tools and NO leaking, not a drop. 2. and what you'll like,it has the spring loaded collar still for taking off but it purposly stays locked back and leaves both hands free to just push the other end in and it kinda snaps in all slick-like. No ball bearings to fuss with and garr. to never leak (you know from vibration etc.) I may not be explaining it so you can visualize it well enough but it was really cool! With no leaks again.
I did it about five times all under pressure, 3k psi and as I said b4- very trick. They run about $100 a set (2 i guess) and if I have any more stinkin' aggrevation about these so called qd's, I'm gonna try um, at least the set for the b/h. Hope this helps and I dont remember what they are called or even who makes them but i'll check back tommorow to see if you care and give you the phone # -Ludlow MA,near Springfield. Tom
