rear diff wont lock?

Hi

i just bought a cub cadet 7200 tractor with 500 hours on it and i cant get the rear wheels to lock. i think im doing everything right. any idea what the problem could be? or what might be wrong?

I've watched many drivers that never use it! My first thoughts would be to start lubing the lever at the pivot to see if any movement can be gained.

hello i would sproy the button with pb blaster mite be rusted . i had my diff lock locked in couldnt get it out i sprayed the heck out of it and it workes now.

i will try putting some lube on it but it seems to be moving enough at where it piviots

the diff pedal has a button it pushes on that is what rusted on me need to spray button.

Not the same tractor but on my tractor you need to turn the steering wheel left and right to get the dogs to line up on the diff lock. You can accomplish the same thing buy spinning the tires.

Yes, my JD often needs a little "gentle" coaxing to get 'em lined up and locked. I just take 'er ahead an inch or two and back a couple and it usually locks in when you go ahead again. Sometimes it takes a tad more aggressive action of the same sort but not much. It has never locked in on the first kick-down, you have to ask at least twice. Once in, it's worth its weight in gold, as they say!! Saved me certain grief more times than I like to recall!!
