I've had 2 rear discharge finish mowers on tractors and 2 Kubota F mowers with rear discharge decks and loved them. They spread the grass out evenly over the cut area, no windrows, no wind blowing grass all over me, cut close on either side, no "stuff" shooting out the side and no rows of piled up cut grass if I make 2 or 3 passes in the same direction. Bought a new F with 72" side discharge with baffles to see if I'm missing something. I haven't been. Really dislike the 72" side discharge deck because of all the reasons stated above for liking the rear discharge deck ....... Was giving strong consideration to buying a Kubota Zero turn and want a rear discharge deck but it comes in a 60" but not a 72" rear discharge. Was at Barlows and drove a ZD331 with side discharge deck and for sure want a rear discharge. Also after owning Fs the Z seems like a step back. ....The Kubota Reg Sales Rep was at Barlows and I was talking about wanting a Z rear discharge deck and he started the same talk a couple of Kubota dealers on TBN have been saying about dissatisfied customers with rear decks because of windrows and clumping. I explained that I had owned 4 rear discharge decks, 2 on tractors and 2 on Fs and loved them and no windrows or clumping except in foot high wet grass for clumping. He said he understood that but on the Zs the discharge area is smaller and if one cuts more than a couple of inches they are going to clump or windrow or they have been with his 20 years with Kubota experience. OK, now we're getting somewhere, it's not the Fs or tractor pulled RFMs but the Rear discharge decks on Zs. Steve Barlow was sitting there nodding that he don't order Zs with Rear discharge for stock only for special order and the above stated issue is the reason. ................Ok, looks like the rear discharge detractors have a leg to stand on with the Zs but my experience with Fs and tractors has been good to great with the rear discharge decks plus I don't mow until the grass is at least 6"s to 8"s tall and maybe taller and I have some areas with thick and high grass and the rear discharge decks on my tractors and Fs have handled the discharge great in my 8 years of using them. I also learned with my extended mowing schedule that a mulching mower is out of the question, nevr something I should buy. The mulching mowers are for you once or twice a week mowers with lawns, not yards. Now I know how important it is to determine exactly what we're disagreeing about and being on the same page. If one buys back a previously owned Kubota after having bought 15 new ones does it count as number 16?
