I am wanting to double check what fluid to put in the rear end of my 135. I searched but was stymied by to many non-related hits. I do not have a Massey dealer near me so massey fluid is out. One good thread from the search said NAPA universal tractor hydraulic oil would do it. What do you guys think and use? Also any tips for changing the rearend fluid?

John, Google is your friend. There are many brands of equivelent oil. i did that search months ago and found that MF-1129 and M-1129A spec are met and exceeds in many brands. one of those is at Walmart. keyword search: Massey Ferguson M-1129 replacement

I think he means to ask if he should buy Permatran or a different grade of fluid.

Dad's 35 called for straight mineral gear oil, 90W above 50F, 80W below 50F.

Not sure if the spec'd oil for the 135 was any different.

NAPA Universal tractor hydraulic oil will work very well. Alternatively, other brands of universal tractor hydraulic oil available from Walmart, Tractor Supply, etc... should also work. You'll need 8 gallons for a complete hydraulic oil change, and be sure to remove both drain plugs, located on the same side as the fill plug, with one being at the bottom of the transmission housing and the other one being located at the bottom of the axle housing. Only removing one or the other will leave about two gallons in the sump.

After you've drained your old hydraulic fluid and before filling it with new fluid, I strongly advise that you clean the hydraulic fluid filter, accessible by removing the PTO lever cover. The hydraulic filter is removed by turning the retaining screw counterclockwise after removing the wire that keeps it from turning. As you're removing the hydraulic filter, be certain to not let the bottom "cup" fall away from the filter, or you risk letting sludge and debris fall into the inlet of the hydraulic pump. It also wouldn't hurt to flush both sumps with several gallons of clean diesel fuel prior to refilling them with fresh hydraulic fluid.

G,Day johnking.
If the tractor has multipower transmisssion use BP TF10 or equivelant, the tf10 has anti foaming properties which the Multipower needs .
If it is a standard transmission use Multiuse /universal tractor oil, The oil weight to be decided by the local temperature range !!!.
Regards .
Hutch.
