I understand what you're saying. I also have a 4-in-1 and used it for clearing brush and such before the grapple found me. I believe a motivated country boy can find a way to do what you're talking about. It will need to be removable, of course.

I finally decided to try a set of teeth mounted on the "dozer" (back) part of the 4-in-1 bucket. The dozer part has a bolt-on replaceable knife edge. I bought a replacement edge and had 7 eight inch teeth welded to it, pointing outward toward the underside of the clamshell. The tricky part was of course to mount the bar such that the teeth would clear the clamshell as it closes. Being 300 miles from the machine, and depending on pictures and measurements, of course I flunked first round. Close though. All I had to do was have a new set of holes drilled 1" further back on the "toothbar" which puts it out far enough to clear the clamshell. Pictures attached. The Amish welding shop that added the 1/2" thick 8" long teeth did a nice job and added a brace under each tooth also made of 1/2" plate. Problem was that reinforcement would not clear the support plate UNDER the bolt on edge. Both problems were bypassed by drilling the new set of holes. It is on now and anxious to try it out next trip to the location.
