I have a B7610 Kubota with a "squeaky" noise in the right rear hub. After a dealer mechanic looked at it I'm told the previous owner did not tighten it enough on the adjustment bolt and that it has "wallered out" the hub and needs a new one. I was getting new tires installed and the wheel was back on so I did not see the hub so I can't testify how wore it is. I'm not doubting the dealer I just have not seen the hub personally. No one here locally has one in stock so I'm looking at into next week to get one. My question is this: Can I shim my present hub to get me by the weekend or can it be shimmed long term even? I've never worked on a tractor rear hub before so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Just make sure all the bolts are tightened and wear your ear protection. :d

Make sure it's the hub and not the disk.

Good Luck,

Not sure I understand. Do you mean the holes in the wheel are wallered out due to lugnuts/bolts being loose?

Use it for the weekend. It should not damage anything.

My B7100 had the old style hubs that were impossible to tighten and was run this way for quite some time with no damage. Last spring I got the new style hubs installed and now all is okay.:D

BTDT,
I'll let you know later today as I'm going to take the wheel off and look at the hub myself. My understanding is that the inside of the hub assembly where it slides on the axle has wore and won't let the adjustment bolt/s tighten properly.

I just got done putting the hub & tire back on. The hub did have some wear where it slides on the axle but that wasn't the main problem. The pin that goes through the hub & axle was completely gone! It's a wonder the entire wheel and hub didn't fall off. Replaced the pin, shimmed the hub so it would tighten up properly and all is well. :D Needless to say I immediately checked out the other side and made sure everything was there and tightened properly. I really must thank all the TBN'ers out there. There are not too many repairs or modifications that I would hesitate to tackle with the wealth of knowledge available at this website. You guys really make a first owner comfortable fast. :)Thanks to all that replied.

Hagman,
Always glad to hear a good ending and congratulations to take it upon yourself to do the diagnosis, but what the heck was the "dealer mechanic" looking at? Always makes ya wonder....

I did all those things with my B7100. None of them worked satisfactorily.

Hope your situation is different.

Maybe wrap some duct tape around the the center bolt. In case it breaks it will still be held in place and help keep your wheel on.:D
