Rear lift question

I went and looked at my 1401 yesterday, and I am IMPRESSED!!!!! I love it. It only had a high and low on the tranny though. Should it have a hi, med and low though?? And then one more thing. There was nothing on the rear lift arms. I moved the lever and they came sailing up. I heard the lever kind of click as if locked in a mode such as a click when I moved it forward to lift, and one for the middle. After I moved it back to lower the arms though, nothing happened.

I could hear it clicking though. Does it need to be adjusted or is it broke and I better not buy it? I havent given any money yet, not till is fixed or something. Just want to know.

On my 186D when there is no implement on the 3 point the lift arms lower very slowly. I think it is a single acting cylinder. What you are doing is opening a valve and letting hydraulic fluid run out to the sump. I guess there is enough friction in the system that is goes slow.

Greetings...

Assuming by "rear lift" you mean 3PH it will lift but not drop with motion on the lever-the implement attached to the 3PH will "pull" the arms back down. Some have a lever to set how fast the arms will drop, but even on the "fastest" setting I have to stand (or push down) on the arms to make them drop (assuming no implement is attached).

Arms are available (see other posts regarding generic (may hit the tires apparently) vs. correct Yanmar ones (contact lensheaf or other Yanmar dealer).

I'm not sure about the clicking...I understand how they work from a couple different tractors I've operated, but I've never heard any "click"....

I was assuming that the clicking was the detents in the lever mechanism (raise-neutral-lower). I forgot to mention that there is a valve that controls the speed of the drop under the seat on most Yanmars. On mine it is a small T handle on the right side of the seat. Generally it should be open.

Is this valve a threaded thing? Where it is open one way and closed another way?

Also, should there be a hi, med and low on the tranny?

The 1401 just has high and low.

On my tractor there are 2 valves. The one in front between your legs locks the 3 point. The one on the right side slows the speed that the 3 point drops. There are 2 cylindrical protrusions from the valve casting under the seat. There is a threaded screw with a T handle that sticks out of the end of the cylinder. Turn them clockwise to close and counterclockwise to open.
