Rear mower: Cadillac or Hyundai?

Just bought a use Kubota BX23 without a mower. Used MMMs are hard to find, so I've decided on a rear mount. A local guy is selling the following:

Sitrex SM120 - 3 years old very good shape - $700 (retail is $1800)
Woods RM42 - much older; runs well - $200

Both are 48" and I think would fit the BX23 with no problem. The Sitrex seems like a good deal, but if the Woods will do the job, I don't want to buy more than I need. I mow about 1 acre with some hills.

Anyone have experience with Sitrex? What you would do in my position?

Tough call. You want a nice cut, I presume and also don't want break downs and don't need to sink another 200 bucks into something for gear boxes, spindles, bearings etc.

Not seeing pix of either makes it a harder call as well. The Sitrex is Italian and that country makes awfully nice mowers, although I don't know that model you are looking at well.

A got 48" Italian made First Choice, by Sicma. Love it. BTW, it was under a grand, brand new, shipped to my home.

woods is a good mower.. if it runs out good, 200$ is a great deal on that mower.

+1 on the woods. Relatively bulletproof and parts are easy to come by should you need them.

You are buying the mower at the right time of year. Just check the deck for rust and the bearings and you should be okay buying used. Parts are available for Woods equipment but can usually be sourced locally from industrial supply houses cheaper. Even if you need to do alittle work 200.00 is cheap enough. your more Ford then anything.

FWIW, Hyundai is now built better than Cadillac. Japanese car manufacturers aren't too concerned with GM but they are scared to death of the Koreans.
