The Finish Mower Driveshaft tends to push the PTO shaft in about an inch...I own a low hr Compact ISEKI Tractor....if I can keep the PTO connecting shaft out past the oil seal everything is okay and it don't leak..am I missing some kind of a spacer that should be used with this used Finish Mower or is it time to remove the PTO back plate and install shims/oil seal....I'm lookin' for advice as I never had to use the rear PTO up till now...Thanks in advance....AMPA

If I understand your description correctly, it sounds as though your pto shaft on the mower is too long. You should have to telescope the shaft out in order to hook it up to your tractor and it should NEVER EVER be putting forward pressure on the tractor's pto shaft. You should be able to run the 3 pt lift up and down the full range of motion and the shaft never completely collapse against itself. If it is putting pressure forward against the tractor's shaft then you will need to shorten the telescoping portion by maybe 2 inches on each half of the telescoping shafts. That's the extent of my knowledge :p

I bought this FM cheap and missing lots of parts...the dealer found the PTO shaft but the outer part was twisted like a cork screw...so I had no choice but to cut it almost in half to get it to fit over the inner shaft...I didn't want to cut the inner at all since there was only about less than half the lenght of the outer to connect I can slide the shaft back towards the gear drive with no problem....I'm going back up to the dealer to tell him and show him the twisted piece I had to cut off....he gave me the operating/service and parts manual and it mentions to make sure the spacers are used...I have no clue as to what these look like...maybe these spacers keep the PTO shaft from sliding inward....thanks Toy and you too Bob... by the way I sent you an email Bob so let me know if you recieve it...I had to use explorer for my email server...so I now have a new email ad I sent with the sent email....I'm taken my lady out in a few minutes to get some more needed groceries... so I'll catch up with you when I return.......AMPA

Hi Bob......I reversed the large 3 point hitch pins (2),as I noticed on your old Finish mower, this Finish Mower I bought must have been on a much larger tractor, as I woud have had to add another link to each of the sway chains, so by reversing the pins they fit the way I had them for my Grader/Snow plough, so just maybe the PTO will be fine and not lealoil, if not I'll just replace the PTO oil seal, should be able to get an oil seal from the Kubota dealer where I bought the used finish mower, by the looks of the rear axel on the Kubota they seem to be the same, I think a lot of parts from Kubota will fit this ISEKI of mine, unless you know where I could order the proper PTO oil seal,I'malso thinking there may be shims to add so the PTO shaft does not move in about an inch, as for the gasket I can probley make one or use instant gasket goo, seems there is a cast iron plate to remove and the seal just presses in, I have the repair manual i'll have to study it, maybe someone on here has replaced one before and can give me some info on how hard or easy it is to replace and if there are shimwashers to keep the PTO shaft from sliding in a inch past the oil seal causing it to leak badly, like it pours through the space beyound the shaft near the splines, anyhow I hope I can fix this problem myself without to much trouble, like I hope there are no clips or springs flyin'out allover the ground as I have to do this outside, Thanks in advance....AMPA

I expect your low hour Iseki has many more hours than you think. It is very easy to unhook the hour meter. I have a TU 1700 and have replaced the PTO seal more than once. The snap ring on the end of the PTO shaft comes off. I don't know the reason, other that the shaft being worn on the snap ring end. Easy to replace seal, just don't know when it's going to happen again. Must drail all the oil to replace snap ring. If anyone has any ideas I will be glad to listen.

bearing carrier groove may be bad also, letting hte snap ring pop out.. happens on fords sometimes.. usualy cause is drivelines that are too long that force the pto stub into the tractor.. popping snap rings and such!
