rear pto not working

Hello all,
The rear PTO on my Massey Ferguson 1250 has stopped working. The switch is on and the light on the dash confirms that. The lever is in in the 540 position. The lever used to have some resistance to it while shifting in and out but now it just seem too easy to move back and forth. I know something has broken. This PTO is an independent electro-hydraulic. Has anybody had a similar problem and can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Have someone play with the lever while you look at the back etc, follow the rod movement and see whats going on. Could be just a bolt that has vibrated free.

Lever controls a shaft that goes directly into the PTO housing. Shaft is moving. I am afraid that I need to tear it apart to see what is going on inside

Is this a shaft that turns? Or moves in and out? If it turns (as has a lever on it) check for a roll pin that has sheared. You may not be getting full movement of the shaft. Just my guess.
