Folks,
My TC29D is relatively new (< 20 hours) and I've just noticed that my PTO speed indicator light doesn't illuminate when I'm at an "estimated" 540 RPM. I say "estimated" because I'm relying on the sound of the mower that I last remember when my TC21D PTO was turning at 540 RPM. The estimated rear PTO 540 RPM on the new tractor seems to be about 1800 engine RPM. I've run the engine to ~2300 RPM with the NH 9308B mower attached and still no indicator lamp. Does anyone have a TC29D with NH 9308B Rear finishing mower? Could you let me know your approx. engine speed when the 540 RPM indicator lights? The way we've been getting rain, I know I'll need to cut the grass before the dealer can get back to me.
Thanks-

I have a TC33D but, the speeds should be the same; it's around 2600RPM.

corwin5,

I'm not trying to insult you, but does the light come on when you turn the key to accessory ?? This will verify that its not a bad bulb.

corwin5,
I have aTC40d and I have to run mine at 2600 or so to have my light come on. I think all NH tractors are around (+/-200rpm) this range.

I have a TC29D and the 540 PTO speed is at an engine RPM of 2600 RPM. Try running the PTO without the mower attached and see if you can get the light to come on. Also, like somebody said, check to see if the light comes on when the key is on before you start it to check the bulb.

I have to agree with all the rest. My TC29D 540 PTo speed is 2600 RPM. I must say that the small 540 numbering is hard to read in the sunlight.

I increase the throttle until the 600 rpm light just comes on, then back the throttle off until it just goes out. I agree with others, the 540 light is very hard to read in sunlight.

All,
Thanks for your replies. It turns out that indeed ~ 2600 RPM a rather dim light for the PTO speed comes on. Since I have low hours on the machine, I was reluctant to run at what I thought was an unnecessarily high RPM. Boy, do I hate calling the dealer back with stupid stuff like this!
As always- Thanks for the info. This board has been a great resource for buying/owning/operating.
