I'm a newbie, and need help! I just bought this 187D and thought that the PTO shaft would be available when I removed this cover. Unfortunately there are missing parts.
Anyone know what all I'm missing...and most importantly, where can I get them?
Otherwise, I just bought a costly tractor just to ride :(

Check hoyetractor.com. I know Aaron has a youTube video out on the yanmar PTO, but probably not the YM187 specifically.
The other parts source would be Fredricks.
Both deal in the gray market (YM XXXX) imports more so than the built for USA models (YM XXX). But those 2 would be my starting places. You may get further with a phone call Monday morning, but check their web sites anyway.

I believe I would inquire from the previous owner if he had any of these parts? This is from a 186 manual. It will be similar to your 187, at least give you an idea what you are missing.

Interesting. That diagram shows a PTO assembly that I think is removable as a unit, like the YM240 PTO in this photo.

In contrast it looks like the upgrade to 187 made everything integral inside the transmission.

California, I know I am wrong about as much as I am right but I believe the 186 diagram is not a removable unit. whether the 187 is like it I do not know, only guessing it might be.

You're likely right.

A little more research and I believe you are right, it should come out as a unit. It takes 3 of the #40 pto support bolts.

And #41, 42 nut and lockwasher out beyond the inner and outer plates. (For YM186D). I'm surprised, I thought YM187 was nearly identical to YM186 with a slightly upgraded transmission but that integral PTO means the transmission is quite different.
