Ford 5600
I’m having issues with adding rear remotes to a ford 5600. I added a rear remote kit and all went well but after buttoning everything up, my batwing shredder “floats down to the ground slowly. I can’t keep it up at a working level. The kit I purchased has an adjustment “t” handle on it and it’s used to control single and double acting cylinders. The kit sits on top of an aluminum block that is used to power my loader. I stacked the kit on top of the block and thought that was all there was to it but am having the float down issue. Weird thing is, I left my loader up in the air overnight to see if it would be on the ground in the morning, like the shredder, but it wasn’t on the ground. Both are stacked one on top of the other so it doesn’t make sense to me. Please help me find a solution. Thanks in advance.

First thought would be the "kit" you purchased is slightly low on quality. In theory the valve SHOULD hold pressure in the cylinder(s) when the spool is in neutral. That said, no one I know of uses a batwing expecting the tractor remote valve to hold it up indefinitely. They all use ram stops on the lift cylinder so the stops carry the load while the mower is in operation.

Welcome to TBN!

Are you sure the issue isn't with leaking cylinders on the batwing? Ram stops would stop it for a predetermined height. Transport latches for the wings would hold the wings in place, but if you are saying that you leave the mower raised when you stop and in the morning it is lowered, I would suspect the cylinder on the machine.

Valid point, but most batwings use single acting cylinders which will quickly show leaking piston seals.

Batwing is brand new and isn’t leaking from any of the cylinders (it has three of them)

Brand new mower and the tightwad bastards couldn't include a few ram stops?

Thanks Harry for the reply. Yes ram stops are in place. I do need a few more to hold it in a better position but I think the cylinders would hold the shredder in position before starting to bleed down. I can lift it to the highest level and it starts down almost immediately. I’m thinking maybe fluid change with filters and all.

Fluid and filters are not your problem. If it bleeds down fast enough to see it, the valve isn't holding. Probably doesn't have any load checks. You need better valves.
