Tractor Sizing Rear Remote Size

First tractor and have newbie questions. After reading attachment forum at TBN I'm thinking of adding a hydraulic top link and one hydraulic side link to an R3644 to use box blade blade. Was looking online at hydraulic cylinders, hoses, and couplings at Surplus Center. Notice they have different sizes and types. What size/type coulpling is on the rear remotes?

It's just a 1/2" AG type coupler with a poppet. There is a coupler that is exactly like this that uses a check ball and it isn't a good idea to mix the ball and poppet style couplers.

TSC sells then as do many places selling tractor parts and implements.

So I understand this. When looking at Surplus Center, Couplers page. Most quick connect couplers, poppett style, are a standard size with the threaded end varying, e.g. 1/4" NPT or 1/2" NPT. I plan on using 1/4" hose with 1/4" NPT male ends. Or am I totally messed up?

Montanaman,

Educate me on why you shouldn't use poppet and ball type connectors in the same loop. I may have to go double check some of my setups.

Sorry, but it can never be that simple! I took a quick look at Surplus Center and I don't think they have anything tha looks like an AG style coupler. You can get the AG style is both different body sizes and thread sizes. 1/2" body size and 1/2" female pipe thread.

I'm pretty sure these numbers should get you started but I don't recall what one is male, and what is female. I just let the last set I have leave here and I couldn't find the slip from when I bought them. I know there are Pioneer numbers. 8010-4P and 4050-4P. I don't normally sell them but will install them as part of the sale on three point splitters, log grapples, etc.

I worked in the hydraulic industry for 8 years but the numbers start to slip when you haven't used them for a while!

A good shop will know what to give you if you ask for a 1/2" AG style male coupler with a poppet and what ever female thread you want.

It's one of those grey areas. Most times it will work no problem but you can end up with a flow restriction because you are using two different types of checks. The poppet may not un-seat the ball 100% or the ball may not un-seat the poppet 100%.

9 out of 10 times, there may be no problem but with open center hydraulic systems, why take the chance?
