I talked with Brian about doing this and another question was raised so I thought I would get a few opinions, including yours Brian. On a new Mahindra they can add another remote for 2 total but I am still debating on whether I should have 3. If I go with Fit rite set up they would be electric and the factory mechanical. So the question is advantages of one over the other. From what I can see, it is just a button vs a lever, is that correct? and life span of a solenoid?
Also, what are some of the uses of the 3rd set up that some of you are using? I am doing 2 for the top and tilt, what does a backhoe use?

If it's a fully independent remote, a solenoid gives handy mounting/location since it's just a switch that you have to put in easy reach. The disadvantage is that it's on or off - no feathering of speed.

If you use a solenoid diverter you can still control speed with the manual valve when you switch to the second circuit. Of course you don't get simultaneous motion of both circuits with this option.

I have this diverter and it works great.

A few things.

I have had an electric diverter for my FEL grapple on my 7520 from day 1. Over 8 years old with ZERO problems. I don't believe that you are going to wear one out any faster than a manual valve. Solenoids are replicable if that happens to come up, but most unlikely.

Second, all the button does is actuate the diverter changing the direction of the hydraulic flow, that is why it is a diverter. It is connected to the OEM set of remotes. Just by pushing the button does nothing. You have to push the button and then move the OEM control lever. With this system you can feather the flow where as with an actual electric valve that has fluid running through it continuously, (a true 3rd function valve) typically those valves are either open or closed and there is no actual feathering of the flow. To feather the flow you have to push the button on-off on-off on-off on-off.  IMO ;)

As far as the use for a 3rd set of rear remotes. Hydraulic scarifiers on a box blade. Hydraulic angle on a rear blade. Hydraulic chute on a snow blower. Anything that can be controlled with a hydraulic. If you were going to use a remote to power a back hoe, you would use the default set of remotes. The set that you will have that operates without any of the buttons.

Another advantage to the diverters over the OEM unit is that it is less $$$ than the OEM unit. Honestly, if you decide to only have 2, go with the OEM unit. Very difficult to beat how clean the OEM units are. (most of the time) But if you decide that you do want 3 sets of rear remotes, then you have to do something other than OEM simply because they only offer 2 and you can get 2 for what the price of the 2nd OEM unit is.

A lot of how many remotes a person needs has to do with what they are doing and what they are using to do it with. I have 4 rear sets on my tractor so that I can control my top & tilt, control angle and offset of a rear blade and or a landscape rake. My tractor only has an option of a single rear remote which I ordered when I ordered the tractor. But because I needed more than the 1 set, I was forced to do something and going with the diverters ended up being my cleanest option IMO. So with a bank of 3 diverters I have a total of 4 rear remotes. I have suggested a bank of 2 diverters for you so that you would have a total of 3 sets.

I hope that some of this helps someone. ;)
