I had my tractor dealer install two rear remotes and top and tilt hydraulics on my Boomer 30 (28hp) tractor. Can anyone tell me if additional remotes and how many would you recommend for future growth and the difference between a floating valve and a spring return to center valve?
-Thanks, Ryan.

You can put as many spool valves on your tractor as you have a need for.

Float mode is a detent mode that allows the loader to follow the terrain, either up or down.

Spring to center just returns the spools to a neutral position.

You may have a float mode on your loader, and when you are not in float or pushing or pulling on the valve lever, the valve lever returns to neutral.

Some other uses for extra spools.. Detent spool for a log splitter, hyd auger, tilt cyl for rear blade, etc.

A 4 spool valve is not uncommon.

Float mode on the Tilt cyl on the 3pt is very useful.

Did your dealer install the OEM remotes or an aftermarket set up? If you want to stay with the OEM units, I believe that 3 is all that you are going to get. With aftermarket, you can have as many as you want. Most guys feel that 3 is plenty, but it all depends on how you want to configure things. You have 2 for your "TnT", if you had or have a rear blade that offsets, then you could have one for angling the blade, one for offsetting the blade, one for a set of gauge wheels, another one for more tilt on the blade. (not needed IMO with the "TnT" setup) so it really isn't that hard to end up needing 6.

One of these days I am going to get around to changing my 32hp tractor from have 1 OEM remote and 2 aftermarket remotes that I use with my "TnT" to having 4 total using the single OEM remote and running everything through a bank of 3 diverter valves. I am building a landscape rake that will angle and offset, so I will need 4 total on my little tractor.

The float function has been everyone's friend from what I have read. Not one person has said that it was a problem to have. Some may never use it, but it has not been a problem. ;)
