Does anyone know if a rear 540 RPM blower can be converted to run off the front mid pto ( 2500 rpm)??

I have figured out a design similar to Kubota's quick hitch, but I do not know the mechanics of PTO's and gear boxes.

I have a B7610 and a 60" JRW Rear blower. We are in the process of building a new home and the driveway is over 1500 feet. Using the rear blower on the previous house with a 200' driveway was fine. I do not want to be backing up this one all the time with the curves and hill.

I suspect you would have to use a reducer gear box or belts, pulleys and jack shafts to redure the RPM. I would suspect you probably safely run the blower at 600 - 650 RPM but the 2,500 would be an extreme.

Does your tractor have front wheel assist? If not hills and curves with all the weight on the front will be more of a challenge.

Our short driveway on the farm was a half mile and all we had was rear mount blower. Guess being a farm kid I was used to looking over my shoulder at implements so this never bothered me. Now that I am getting older it may though.

Option I have seen, use mirrors and practice backing with them like a truck driver. Saves your neck and lots of money.

On the new Buhler/Farm King 740 I got the owners manual has in bold print DO NOT EXCEED 540 RPM. Your blower might be able to take more than 540 but as oldnslo said 2500 rpm would probably kill it quick.

Hi! May be you can make a reducer 4 to 1 with shafts bearings sprockets and chain. A must I think for more low PTO input shaft under front tractor axle. Good luck! Oldmech

You could also consider makeing a setup that runs off your rear PTO, with a shaft running under your tractor to the front, and then to a shorter shaft with universals up to your blower. Simular to the Erskine factory setup. You also will have to consider rotation. Most front blowers rotate backwards from a rear blower. Just an idea. Do a search on Erskine, and you might get some pictures of their setup. They have an adjustable angle iron frame that runs from the front to the rear which you drive over, then bolt up under your tractor. Good luck.

Dear Sir
I have a Kubota L2250 with a mid pto that I plan to run a hydraulic pump from. i have all the parts on my bench to start the job soon. (1 )you need a pto bushing on the pto because kubota uses a odd size it can be converted (2 )it also turns the wrong direction maybe for your use. The bushing is made off shore sold through the us , if you want I can find the source of the supplier, I would leave the blower on the back as that is a leisure project not in the middle of a house build ( been there done it ).
