Snow Rear snowblower on Kubota B

I live in northern Michigan and get a lot of snow. My Kubota B does a great job with my rear snowblower to keep the snow cleaned up. I have the blade of the snowblower spaced up 3/8 of an inch from the driveway but my brother in law (who has lived in the same area 30 years) says that he drops the blade right down to the driveway. Cleans better and does not do damage to his asphalt driveway. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

To determine how it might affect the asphalt driveway. Drop the blower down on the asphalt and shorten the top link. Shorten it just enough so the scraping blade of the blower is about half an inch off the asphalt. This way you should be certain it will do no damage. This should tell you if it's doing what you want or maybe shorten/lengthen the top link more.

Unless you have breaks in the asphalt - you should be able to run the blower with it dead flat on the asphalt and do no damage.

If your feet are set at the same level as the cutting blade, it won't do any damage.
BUT the blade will leave a white mark, kind-of like a chalk line, in spots where the asphalt is crowned a little higher. And the white mark will be there next summer. The chains on the tractor leave the same type of mark, especially if you spinout on a damp spot.

I don't consider that damage. The next time you spread on a new coat of sealant, the white marks go away.

I have about 160 feet of asphalt driveway.

Had a Gravely square chute blower. Used it one time on about 7 inches of sleet.

Ran it right on the asphalt. Shot the sleet off to the side about 30 yards.
