You can get new tires on without taking the wheels off the tractor. If that is the only reason for removing the wheels.

I've been looking at that. It does not seem as if there is enough room to work for mounting the new tires while the wheel is still on the machine. I might have to give it a try anyway.

The seat and fender deck can be removed. Prolly a lot easier than fighting the stuck wheels. Just another possible option. Best of luck, with either approach.

I looked at removing the fender/deck earlier and decided it would be to difficult. I may need to take another look.

as others have said I'd try PB Blaster.This stuff works great.Just let it soak overnight...russ

if you do decide to change the tire while on the mower be sure to roll it enough to try and break the bead, the tire might be stuck on the wheel as well, I'm sure once having the bead loose and lifting the rear of the mower off the ground you could work in one area while rotating it little by little to work the tire off the rim,

We have already driven it around the yard with flat tires in hopes of both breaking the beads and losening the wheel on the axle. No luck on either thing. The beads being difficult to break down is why I decided that the wheels need to come off. I have changed several tires and I know how difficult these little lawn tractor tires are. Thanks for all of the tips so far.

careful with the heat, don't cook the axle seals. Take a small punch and tap the key on into the wheel/axle a bit, then spray with your choice of lube. Let it sit a day, then see if you can get something in behind the wheel to push the key out, then your fight will be easier. They can be a pain! Be sure as said to anti-seize it when you get it off!
