Reasons AC Compressor Not Coming On? Please help...

I壇 really appreciate any advice on why my AC compressor in my 6110 is not coming on. Fan works fine and blows, but the compressor is not engaging at all. Belt is fine and the wires appear to be connected fine into the clutch but the compressor will just not kick on. Is there a fuse, relay or anything else I can check? Could the rotary dial switch in the cab maybe be bad?

I壇 like to eliminate as many variables as possible if I can before having to go to the dealer. I知 in south Texas and its still hot...!

I did not know that - great to know. I will get some gauges to check that. Appreciate the tip - makes sense now that you mention it.

Locate the low pressure cut off switch and temporarily jump it. If compressor kicks in, the charge is low or the switch is faulty. Do not run it with a low charge. If you jump the switch and nothing happens... check if the compressor clutch is getting power. If yes, take a hammer and give it a tap to see if it will engage. If it does, there is too much space for the magnet to pull in. Fixed by removing a shim in the clutch. The gap should be the thickness of a business card.

About to try this now - I値l tap on it with a hammer and try to locate that low pressure switch. Will keep you posted...

My money is on, it needs a re-charge...

Probably has a slow leak someplace...

If jumpering the lp switch fixes it and it works after recharging good,
if not check for voltage going to the clutch.
If it has voltage then it's the compressor clutch or a system issue.
If no power it's an electrical issue, either from the controller or a switch in the ac system.
