Hi guys
Let me post my emails that I had back and forth from them due to the fact they do not have tractor in front of them this is difficult. But my conversation can be a starting point.
My first email to them
Just found your web site and was wondering and I am sure this varies a great deal to refub a MF 165 with loader. Paint fix stuff that needs fixing not many hours 1500 but would like it tip top condition? Can send you a photo? But until you have in front of you you never knwo what you will find. I do know it is hard to engage PTO this should be rebuilt.

It is so very hard to tell with the tractors not being in front of us. My guess is that there would be at least 3000.00 in it to start. We would defiantly need pictures to even come close. But realize that when this tractor comes home it will be in showroom condition and EVERYTHING on it will be fixed and it will run like new.
ConclusionHope this helps. I am not looking to increase the value of my current tractor I am looking at replacement costs? What does it cost me to replace one little section at a time as they break. Also would I be happy with a new tractor What does a new MF 65 HP tractor with loader go for brand new? IT makes more sense to me to throw my money after the old instead of new.
Besides that I love this old tractor really do not want to part with it.
And can not stand the breakdowns that wind up costing me more in the
long run and at the mercy of a tractor dealer who telling well I need to get this haybine out now. I would rather have the down time at my own schedule.

Michelle, we all seem to think the same way ... the early tractors run almost forever. I refer to my two as "Unstoppable" and "Unkillable" and they're both on the shady side of 50 years old! If you intend keeping and using it, $3-4000 spent on it is much better value for money. It will make it a much more enjoyable tractor to use because everything should work as intended, and overall it will look much nicer. Hope it works out for you.

I personally rebuilt the 4 cylinder Perkins, scotch yoke pump, and multipower in a MF 165. Never have I done this amount of work on any one single tractor at a standstill, but if you have multipower, it's a job and a half. Catch it before it goes bad. It will. Your tractor is worth the investment. Especially a 165. What a sweet ride. I'm near Charleston SC so that may be a problem for you. I work at a dealership and eat, sleep, and breathe Massey Ferguson.
