I had two leaking bucket cylinders on a Kubota L245DT.
Leaking from the wiper seals at the rod end. Question is what is the proper installation of the wiper. It appears to be similiar to an oil seal but no spring.
Does the lip face the oil , internal, or outward?
When disassembling the cylinders...one had the lip in and the other had the lip facing out. Since these are configured like an oil seal, I would assume lip in would be correct. The one with the lip facing out was just PACKED with dirt.

Need some expert advice here.

It depends on the seal design. Look at the hoist cylinders.

Here is a good thing to keep in mind. The internal oil seal keeps oil in the cylinder so the open part of the U faces the oil. The wiper keeps foreign debris out, so the open part of the seal faces out.
