Cub Cadet Corp. Announce Recall of Lawn Tractors

Consumers should stop using the product
immediately unless otherwise instructed

Name of Product: Cub Cadet Series 7000 Compact Tractors
Units: 2,000

Manufacturer: Cub Cadet LLC (Cub Cadet), of Cleveland, Ohio.

Hazard: The tractor's high/low shift lever could pop out of gear into neutral during operation on steep slopes with attachments, such as a back-hoe or front-end loader installed. This could result in the machine "free-wheeling" until the brake is applied or the transmission is re-engaged, posing a risk of the operator losing control of the tractor.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: Model number 7252, 7254, 7264, or 7304 is written on the hood of the tractor.

Sold At: Authorized Cub Cadet dealers nationwide from May 2002 through mid-October 2003 for between $10,000 and $14,300.
Manufactured In: U.S.A.

Remedy: Consumers should contact the Cub Cadet dealerships where the tractor was purchased to schedule a free repair.

Consumer Contact: Call Cub Cadet toll-free at (888) 848-6038 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

riches,
I got a new 7264 in late Sept.
At the time of delivery I pointed out to the dealer that the shifter didn't remain in position. (never did "freewheel")
Several weeks later he called and said he had gotten the notice and would repair it.
Needless to say it's fixed and no more problems.
On another point, in a previous post I stated my dealer had since closed due to poor health.
My concern is; how would I get notified now ???
By the way, thanks for the "heads up".

I called the consumer number to just verify that this recall did not include the 7265. They told me they knew nothing about the recall and to contact my dealor. I told them I just wanted to know if my model was on the recall. He informed me he had no idea and to contact the dealor. I asked him if he had no idea then who notifies the dealor. He wan't sure. Very poor consumer "hotline". This just goes to show how important a good dealorship is.

Graybeard,
I would think you could call Cub Cadet at the posted number. If you join the Cub Cadet club on their website, you can post questions to them online.
I believe all recall notices come to you from the manufacturer and not the dealer as long as the dealer registered it for you.
Hope this helps.
