I'd like to hear from others that have had their recall work done. In a nutshell... after having the work done everything mechanical is fine, and I've put another 6 hours on the clock. However, I am puzzled about a few things like:

1. A charge for $15.00 for a new HST filter?
2. A charge for $50.60 for filter assembly?
3. A service delivery charge of $106.40.

When I discussed the recall with my dealer I asked if the hydraulic fluid needs to be drained to perform the transmission recall. They said yes because the tractor has to be split. I then asked if the recall provides for new hydraulic fluid - again they said yes. So I told them to put in F200 and not NH134 and that I would gladly pay the difference in price. I got the F200. Lastly, I did ask if there was a pickup and delivery charge, I live less than 25 miles from dealership, and was told NH would cover it. I asked because the recall letter said the dealer may charge for this. The way the letter was worded led me to believe that NH was providing some subsidy for p/u and delivery.

Like many other's facing the recall, I discussed mine with the dealer prior to authorizing the work. At the time I was clear as to what we agreed. While I don't like surprises I do want to be fair, so I thought I'd ask my fellow NH owners about their experiences before I pay these bills. WHAT CHARGES DID YOU INCURR, IF ANY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH HAVING THE RECALL DONE? WHAT WAS OR WAS NOT REPLACED (E.G., fluid, filters, filter kits, ETC)?

Thanks

JohnT,

Was just called this morning by the dealer to let me know that the fix has been performed and is ready to be picked up. I borrowed a trailer to drop off the TC40D and will borrow it again this weekend to pickup.

The only charge I have is for an engine oil change that I had them do. My total is $60.46 for the labor and parts.

I was not charged for any filters or assemblies. This is the first transaction I have had with this dealer (the dealer I purchased from went out of business) so do not think that they just absorbed some cost.

Ask your dealer about the charges. They may have given you the benefit of charging for the fiilters and not the difference in the oil.

NH told me that the recall did not cover any charges related to pickup/delivery or on-site work. If your dealer told you there was no cost to you for delivery/pickup then they should honor that even if they were incorrect in their understanding.

Just my 2cents.

I spoke with 3 dealers before having mine done. From what I was told before having mine done: The filters are not covered under the recall. (the prices you have look to be in the right ball park) I too wanted fresh ones. There was some allowance from NH for transportation when needed... how much I don't recall exactly. My dealership did their best to keep me happy & I incurred no out of pockets on the whole deal & they took care of some additional items too./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Overall so far I have had a pretty good experience. The only trouble is that I have only been able to put on about one hour since the whole thing. Maybe I'll get lucky & things will dry out enough here for me to hook up my plow pretty soon. I am anxious to see how the hydro powered tranny does with that. Sorry I am day dreaming about my favorite hobby again... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
