I was tired of always removing and installing trailer balls on my DX40, so I came up with this adapter so I can use the many receivers I have for my truck. It's simply made out of tubing, angle iron and flat stock I had lying around the yard. It slips over the drawbar and is secured by a pin in one of the small holes in the drawbar. Then I slide in the receiver and pin it normally. I attached a few pics so you can see how I made it.
I enjoy reading the posts on the site, and thought I could share something I did to make life easier.:D

Great pictures and project. I was thinking of doing something with a receiver hitch on the drawbar but didn't have any plans. Yours is just what I was looking for. Quick on and off, simple and very functional. Using the hole farther back on the drawbar was an idea I didn't think of.

Nice idea Sheepman. Here's another plan that's worked very well for us.

Two very good ideas. How is the clearance for tight turns? I have a Kubota 7510 and was wondering how much the drawbar will support. I have a 20' boat to move around and need something dependable. Thanks

The clearance would be basically the same as if you just used the drawbar since the receiver adapter sits on top of the drawbar. The only difference is that the receiver ball is maybe 4" further back than if you just used the drawbar.

I don't know how much weight the drawbar would hold, but my adapter should support whatever the drawbar does. I don't generally pull anything too heavy, so I never really thought too much about it.

Project,
You should be able to look up the spec's for your tractor's drawbar.

a big boat, but balanced on the trailer properly, the tongue weight is small

I copied your idea and made a similar receiver hitch for my JD. Now the hitch height is closer to standard trailer height of 16". Works great.

Dang, I need another project like a hole in the head. But that is just too good an idea and so simple. Excellent. Thanks!

This is how I did it and use the 3ph to raise.

Looks great. I may make one if I have to pull trailers aa distance, but I just love the ability to back up to a tailer and pick it's ball up with the 3pt hitch adapter.
