recommend an income tax e-file website?

Was curious if anybody files online and if they can recommend a source.

I have checked some out at the IRS website and came away unlcear about the process. these are supposedly free.

how about others that have a fee?

i dont care really about computing software, just a E-filing. thanks steve.

I've used Intuit's online service for the past 3 years ... if your income is low enough (or you're a senior) you don't pay. I do min3e and my mothin-in-laws and she doesn't pay ... I paid $30. I prefer this to installing yet another piece of software (that's used once) on my PC.
You're charged at the time of e-filing so you can play as much as you want.

I used www.taxactonline.com this year and it worked slick as a whistle. They filed my federal return electronically for free but there was a charge for efiling a state return. I declined and did it on paper.

I used their software to do my return and even though I didn't have any surprises, I felt better knowing that it had been reviewed by the computer at least.

I guess you know you don't have to download the software - you input the information into their site and it gives you the results at each step and walks you through the filing process.

I would highly recommend it, especially since it's free.

i use TURBO TAX, on the web. have used them for about 4 years. depending on your situation, u may get it for free. i get a break on it through one of my funds, it cost me $24 for both federal and state, both e filed. and i don't have to clutter up my computer with another program, that is usless next year. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
