Brother has 3 Stihl 170 saws for his Christmas Tree operation that worked well.

Only complaint was about noise from a neighbor when the trees get a fresh cut before going out.

The cashier booth has it's own electric utility meter and I was thinking a quality electric might be an answer?

Makita, Milwaukee and Stihl show electric chainsaws in their catalogs.

Anyone have a recommendation?

PS... we were given two of the cheap electric saw and killed both the same week... sold over 1000 trees to give an idea of volume.

Milwaukee has discontinued the Model 6215. I'd look at either Stihl or Husqvarna electric chainsaws. Seems like either one would work - I'd pick by which local dealer gives the best support and price.

My neighbor has an Oregon (40V) and loves it...

If you trust Consumer Reports...they rate the EGO best and it's $300 compared to the Stihl $380 the Oregon $400 is 4th on the list after a Ryobi $200

I agree the EGO looks to be the best full sized cordless chainsaw yet. I made a recommendation to my boss to get one but he only wants what he calls a "one handed saws" (ie trimmer types like the Echo 280's we have now). My next suggestion was also get a few of the Milwaukee 18V Hackzalls. With no oil or gas and totally one handed use, quick blade changes and as long as the batterys can handle it out in the field in winter weather I don't see much downtime for our guys and IMO I don't think he can lose. Hey but what do I know, maybe he'll think of it. I can hear him saying it now...wow glad I thought of that!

We just got two of the 40V Oregon pruners for use at the Orchard this year for winter pruning

Guy at the local equipment shop sells him on anything :)

Milwaukee used to make a great electric chainsaw that we used on oak tree tops after the logs were hauled out. Really impressive. New stuff is outsourced junk. 1000 trees is a great business. I am sure your boss will think of something. The stress of working for someone like that gets old quick. Did it for to long. Wish you well.

Actually it's my brother and just helping out... that's why he bought a Kubota by the way ;-)

His biggest trees top out at 20'... most are in the 6 to 8' range.

Really don't want or need cordless... plenty of power outlets around the sales lot at his home.

I'm disappointed with my recent Milwaukee purchases also...

The local Stihl saw shop has 3 models of Stihl electrics... about $300 to $550... I'm thinking the $300 model 170 should be plenty to fresh cut the tree trunks and it should be quieter for the neighbor than a gas Stihl chainsaw.

Never had a bad Makita product... read the reviews and some complain about oil leakage from the Makita electric chainsaw.
