recommendations on good, quality fertilizer spreader for residential use

Hello to all

• Looking or a solid recommendation on quality fertilizer spreader for yard use/residential.
• Can be either single or dual action.
• Mainly for fertilizers of various types that has a good calibration system for
  • both RIGHT application amount
  • and CORRECT & EVEN distribution of product.
• Would like it solidly made w brass type nuts/screws/etc so it will not corrode quickly.

Will wash after each application and oil accordingly.

I have one of these I use.

The good. You can raise and lower the 3 point to control how wide the pattern is. You can also throttle up or down to throw the fertilizer wider. You can vary your ground speed to vary the density of the fertilizer. It also hold a lot, maybe a couple hundred pounds or more. The gates have a lot of adjustment also to control the rate.

The bad. All those different ways to control things make it hard if you are after the perfect rate. I usually apply a low rate and apply it lightly to get everything covered.

Thanks, but this is inside a residential yard that cannot be accessed by any type of tractor or similar. has to be a push spreader...

I've had several years' use out of an Earthway spreader.......It is still in good shape having spread many bags of fertilizer and some lime. Depending on how hardy I feel, I load it to the level that I can push it at a steady rate of walking.

Thank you guys...on the shoulder or carry spreaders, good if a very small area and the fertilizer does not have powder in it and it's not a windy day. Getting blow-back dust in the face isnt preferred....thanks again

I have the Earthway in the link below. About 12 years old and still looks and works like new. Liked that it has adjustable handles(I’m 6’3”) and stainless hardware. It’s very pricey now. There is a residential model for significantly less, not sure of the details

I agree that a shoulder mounted bag spreader works the best. I have never found a push spreader that spreads evenly. If you are worried about stuff blowing back in your face either wait until the wind stops or just modify your pattern to always have the wind to your back.

There is a better one out there. I used this for decades and finally wore it out...it worked but no game changer.

In visiting my local primarily used equipment dealer he had a different brand with no manufacturer tag to be found. Difference was SS slinger, slide distribution selector under the front of the unit...easy to select, and convenient hold/dump adjustable lever.

The cone was light weight high tensile steel making the moving and mounting much easier. I bought it a couple of years ago, works great and was under $500 for 4-500# capacity...same as the one pictued.
