Hello snow enthusiasts,
I am looking to put a front mounted snowblower on a Ford 1720. I came across a 2:1 PTO increaser that was mounted on a 1720 and redirects the PTO output shaft forward so that you can run a front blower or broom. Supposedly it was made by Ford. It is gear driven and fully enclosed. Also, it mounts to the drawbar for support. My question is this, what PTO speed is recommeneded. I am looking to put a Ford 715 blower up front. Being it is 2:1, it will inrease the rear 540 pto to 1080. Is that too fast for a blower?
I know some models of 1720s came with a mid mount PTO for use with a blower but I am not sure what the RPMs is on those.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
