Looking for your experience and suggestions for recommended rpms for operating my 2710. Nothing in any manuals, so have been going by feel, and minimal experience. Have run around 1500 to 1800 using FEL and hoe off tractor hydros. Any strain or stress symptoms to watch for?? FEL and hoe work fine at these speeds, didn't want to rev too high, or am I?? Appreciate your input, Thanks JP

That's approx. what rpm range I use on the L4610. However, I have run her up to 2500(where 540 pto mark is) for some road trips just to break it in at all rpm's. Not sure I'll ever need the extra rpm's, just in case/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I think you'll find in your loader manual that it recommends 1700-2200 rpm. Not a thing wrong with what you're doing, so long as it doesn't sound like the engine is laboring or bogging down. I agree with the recommendation to vary the rpm during break-in, and of course, if using a PTO powered implement such as mowers and tillers, you aren't going to hurt the tractor by running it up to PTO speed (2537 rpm I believe) and leaving it there.

I warm up my 2710 at 1300 rpms, run the rear PTO at 2600 rpms, and run the FEL at 1500 - 2000 rpms depending on how hard its working. For transport I go about 2400 - 2500 rpms in high range. For playing music I run it at 33 - 45 rpms /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Jaypee, after it is broken in, the rule of thumb is to run it at the lowest RPM that will do the job with out lugging the motor... What is lugging the motor? The motor picking up 300 more RPM when you remove the load... I try to use at less than 200 drop.... Of course if you are using a PTO implement that may have to be higher RPM to work.. I, for most chores use around 1800.. (seems to be the best fuel usage), mowing I go up to about 2200 RPM (still a little short of 540 RPM speed). If I need any more I will take less of a cut or drop down a gear.. JAG

JP:for loader work i normally run abut 1800 t0 2000 depending what i am doing, if i am moving dirt or stone or digging i keep the rpm up around 2000. when useing mower i set it at line and let her rip. after a bit u will get to know when to give it more or cut it back. nothing says u have to set it and leave it. change the rpm if the job requires it.

Thanks again. I have FEL, Hoe and rear blade, no PTO implements. So I guess I should race my wife on the lawnmower to get the RPMs up for break in huh?
