Probably not, but it's sure a record for me!

We had a 2007 Isuzu FTR (26,000 GVWR box truck) whose time had come to go. We'd been talking about, considering various options for months. Finally, two weeks ago we decided on its baby brother, an NPR-HD (14,500# GVWR).

Last Wednesday my son flew to WI to look at it in person, sealed the deal and drove it home over the next three days, arriving back in VT around 2PM on Friday.

There's a local company that does spray foam insulation and they have several FTRs, so our cautiously optimistic plan was to see if they wanted to add one to their fleet.

This morning my son called and left a message that we had a truck they might be interested in. Got a call back at 10, the guy showed up at 10:15, made an offer within 15 minutes, and by 2PM it was rolling out the driveway.

Kinda blew me away, as I was thinking that after the first of the year we'd clean it up a bit and list it somewhere, hoping to sell it within a few weeks. Big problem? It has a full wrap on both side and the roll-up door that's been on there for like 9 years. Everyone I've talked to says it's going to be a bear to remove, and painting or re-wrapping over the top of it is not viable. Well this company has boxes set up with their foam application systems - generators, pumps and who knows what else. So they are going to take the box off and put on one of theirs. And probably set our old box in their fairly visible boneyard for some free advertising (and as we know, there ain't no such thing as bad publicity).

Still SMH, can't get over it.

My first thought would have been "I didn't ask enough for it!"
Good story, it sounds like things worked out well for all parties. I vaguely remember you talking about buying a replacement vehicle.

There's always that. But online listings showed asking prices of $12-15k, and ours had serious rust issues. I would have been thrilled with $10k, but $8500 within hours of putting it out there was nearly a no-brainer. Didn't even have to take pics and spend the time trying to make it sound better than it was. And, now we don't have to park it outside and have to clean the snow off every storm we get (we have room for one truck under cover).

I've priced things low before, thinking that I got my use out of it and just want it gone. If somebody else can make use of it, that's better than having it set in my driveway over a few hundred dollars.

Too true. See it gone and move on.

This is a perfect example of the stars lining up in your favor. I’m very happy for you!

And you didn’t even need “professional help”!
