red paint under blue

Ok, my tractor is a 1975-76 Ford 5000. The paint is chippiing, and there is red paint under the blue, is this primer? Would not all this model tractors have been blue fron the start. Its a dull blue at that,

It could have been a commercial/industrial unit, maybe owned by a county, a utility, or somesuch so it might have gotten a color other than blue. Have you tried to see if there might be some more blue underneath the red??

lots of possibilities.

could be a repaint.. could have been custom ordered.. I'm guessing ford would paint them however you wanted. I've seen red and yellow machines before.

could be a paint over with iron oxide primer.. etc.. etc.

does the hood tag or trans stamping indicate and ag or industrial model?
