Guy in town is always on the lookout for firewood he doesn't need to split. I have a clump of redbud trees that fell over and are just the right size for him. Does it burn ok?

no first hand experience, but a google search yielded results that claim it to burn very well. In the same family as honey locust, which is good. Redbud is a hard dense wood, and that is what you want.

Lets know how it burns. But I am guessing rather nicely once dry.

Ya know, it dont matter what species of wood it is, they all have nearly the same BTUs per pound once dry. So... a ton of dry poplar or willow will make the same amount of heat as a ton of dry hickory or oak. Only difference is the poplar or willow will take up twice as much room (or can only get half as many pounds in the stove). Therefore it isnt considered good wood. But per pound... its all the same. So if it fells pretty heavy, like most other hardwoods, I am betting it will burn similar.
