I'm wanting to use my tractor remotes on an old dump trailer. The trailer's hydraulic unit is rated to 2000 lbs. My Kubota 9540's owners manual says I can reduce the pressure with a valve on the back. It says there is 1 1/2 turns of adjustment. How do I determine when I've got it under 2000?

Are you talking about relief pressure.

You figure the force in lbs on a hyd cyl by using the bore diameter and the pressure capability of the pump.

There is the straight on push force and then you have the angled push force which is less.

The hyd cyl will develop the pressure by the load placed on the cyl.

The relief valve will regulate the max pressure the cyl can develop.

You need a hyd gage to adjust the pressure.

If your cylinder is a 2500 psi cyl, then you can regulate the pressure that the cyl can achieve by setting the relief valve to about 2450 psi. .

If you meant 2000 psi (pressure) rather than 2000 lbs (weight or force) then you need a pressure gage with a mating quick disconnect to plug into the rear remote you plan on using with the trailer. Briefly activate the remote to read the pressure.

Yeah, psi. Thanks, guys. I'll scare up a pressure gauge. Maybe the dealer will loan me one.
