Anyone ever try one of these like the pull behind models sold by promow? I had an idea to make a mount for a single reel on the rear of my 2518 to fold down on the left side. Mainly to allow me to mow further under my peach trees on that side since they branch out pretty low.

Maybe even add another on the right side with a linear actuator to fold them up (pull them together) when I don't want to use them. Sound crazy?

I had a 7 gang Pro Mow for several years. It worked great, and I like the way the lawn looked after using it. What I did not like was the way you had to have a perfect lawn, or it would not cut. Absolutely no weeds, leaves, sticks etc.

I have a nice yard, 3 acres, but the cost to sharpen was expensive also. I live in an Amish area, so a guy down the street does everyones mowers, and charged me around $150.00 to sharpen.

I liked the fact you could move around the yard at barely above idle and be mowing. It was much quieter, and quick, with the wide swatch. Much to like about theses things, but I did spend a bit of time trimming aftyerwards. I replaced it with a Z Force 50, and am happier with the ZTR, but in the right application, a Pro Mow is quite nice.

New Haven Indiana, right outside Fort Wayne.
Old Order Amish.

Neighbor bought it from me, and converted it to a "rider", so his horse could pull it. I need to take a few pictures of it now, Pro Mow would not be happy with the modifications!

How about some of these.

That's the one exactly. That's where I got the idea. They sell single units so I thought about that. They are expensive though. The higher end ones are nearly $500 a reel.

Their 58" unit with 3 of the the better reels seems like a decent buy at $1600. I don't think that would give me much more coverage under a tree (at least not enough) than my current deck. The five reel unit nearly doubles in price. I though about one just sticking out on one side to get under the trees.

You could pull or push an engine driven finish mower for about that price or a little higher. You put one of the trail mowers in the off set mode and trim under trees.
