SURELY someone here other than me has had Regal Crown Sour candies at one point in their life. Cherry, lemon, orange probably my favorite and in that order. They were GOOD and they were sour. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

They used to be carried by the "Cracker Barrel" chain of restauraunts, but no more. I've contacted corporate head quarters of CBRL and was informed that via agreements, they do not discuss their suppliers.

I've done a search via google and found numerous references to the brand and so far, seems to be that they are either no longer made, or no longer imported.

Anyone have an idea?

Hi Rich...

Oh boy...do you bring back memories. I grew up on these candies when I was a kid growing up in NYC. I loved them. Now, every time I go down there on business trips I look at the news stands and they are no where to be found. You've now peeked my interest in trying to find out what happened with this company. I'll try searching around and if I find out anything, I'll post here in this thread.

Oh man! OH MAN!! Just reading this makes my mouth pucker from the cherry ones! /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif

I can't remember the name of the company, but I saw this show on the Food Network (actually my wife was watching it - REALLY!) that had a report about this company that sells nothing but candies from the 40's, 50's, and 60's. I don't remember where they get it from, but it's all the real deal. You can order different size boxes and they come with a variety of different candies in them. I think you can call them and request certain kinds be included. If I can do a search and find the name of the company, I'll post it here tomorrow. Unless, of course, someone else already knows about it! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Garry,

Just thinking about these candies that I haven't had in 20 years or more makes your taste buds start to tingle. That's how vivid the memories are about these candies. I too wish I could find out how to order these. Do post here if you find anything. Thanks.

My search confirms what you found. It looks like they are no longer made.

Well, it looks like Mike might be right. I couldn't find anything about the Regal sours. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

There are a lot of sites out there for "nostalgia" candy. Here's a link that does offer sour cherries, if anyone is interested. Old Fashioned Candy

Otherwise, the site that Mike linked to let's you order "packages" of a variety of old time candies. Or, you can do a web search for "nostalgic candy", and you'll find all of those other sites.

In my neck of the woods, the Tractor Supply stores sell a big variety of old fashioned candy, right there by the cash registers. Don't remember the name brand. I have bought several packages of cherry sours and fruit sours. I tend to eat them til I'm sick. Took my 6 year old granddaughter there a couple of months ago and got her some of those small wax Coke bottles with sweet colored liquid inside. Brings back the memories!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!.......Another nostalgia candy you've brought good memories of. Do they still make these? How about the pixie sticks filled with colored, flavored sugar, the candy drops on strips of paper, and those candies on a string that look like necklaces. You guys remember these? Not sure now how my JD dealer would react if I walked in with a candy necklace around my neck./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Hi Mike...

I took a look at this list and by golly I think these guys may have erred. Look at the attached weblink for the Vermont Country Store in Weston, Vermont and click on the Candy Counter. The listing they have isn't complete but I remember them having Skybars (on your list) and SenSen last time I visited their shop last fall.

One thing they didn't have were the Regal Crown Sours/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif.

They still make Pixie sticks - my granddaughter brought some to my house a few months ago. But they are about half the length that they used to be and quite thin. Not much to them for the money.
