Regarding a Bush Hog 3008 brush cutter.

Hey all, just bought a very nice condition 3008 8 foot double spindle Bush Hog brush hog. Works like a beast. I am puling it with a Kubota 100GX. My question is this, when I engage the PTO at idle it spins up nice and smooth. then if I start applying some throttle it starts to get a vibration from idle through to about 1800 rpm. Not a huge, rattle your teeth vibration, but if you hum a steady note it will fluctuate your voice a bit. At 2000 and above smooth as silk. So, do they all do that? Is this normal? I looked under it as it was running/spinning nothing seems to be bent or loose. blades look to be in good shape, stump jumpers are like brand new. The middle shafts are not bent. Any input would be great. Cheers.

And what RPM do you guys run these things at? and how fast to you drive with a bush hog going through tall grass. Thanx

The vibrations are normal sounding to me. Some cutters are smooth all the way up to speed others seem to have RPMs where they want to rattle the tractor apart. As long as it's smooth at cutting speed you should be ok. I usually run my cutters right at or just below the 540 rpm. Say 530 but they are made to run the full 540 rpm.

I drive VERY slow through any tall stuff that I can't see the ground. After I've mowed a patch a couple of time I go faster and if the grass is pretty low and sparse and its a field that I know there is't any hidden dangers in I mow in 4th gear low range on my Kubota M7040. That is about 3.5 MPH and the ride is rough as I want to endure. How do you like your M100gx? how often do you regen with it??
