Regenerative and Non-Regenerative valve spools Pics

I have posted a thread a while back having to do with why a NH 716B snow blower was not working right on my NH 1715. What it needed was a Non-Regenerative Valve Spool on the bucket circuit of the Zexel control valve. Thanks to Rick B for lots of help but I sure wished I had a pic of the thing after ordering a spool that was the wrong part due to wrong stock labeling from the vender. Well 2-3 weeks later (time flies when your having random fits of WTFitis.) I got the correct part and it works.

So I thought it would be nice to share my new valve spool info with the rest of you so you would not have to go through the **** that I did.

I am not understanding why one has to switch spools to a non regen spool.

If you have a valve with regen, you don't have to use the regen part of the valve. Just don't select it.

We don't get a lot of snow down this way.

The NH 716B blower has 4 hydro lines.

Two are used to lift and lower the blower unit. The joy stick move is fore and aft. With the FEL on the tractor the joy stick move raises and lowers the FEL unit.

The other two lines from the blower are attached to the hydo motor which in turn rotates the snow chute right or left. On the FEL this side to side movement of the joy stick rotates the bucket, dump or fill. With a regenerative spool the snow chute will only rotate in one direction, depending on how the lines are hooked up.

I did a bunch of line swaping and did get it to work with the regen spool BUT all of the joy stick moves were all bass-ackwards, too dangerous, after 10 yrs. of using the stick correctly I just didn't want to retrain my old brain.

I am NOT a hydraulic expert, but this is the only way to make the blower work correctly.

Is there a stop before a non-regen mode? The BX series Kubotas are setup that way. There is a detent between regen and non-regen on the curl/dump circuit.

Gad you were able to get things sorted out.

I'm guessing your spool only has a regen dump? Most kubota/other brands you have to push past the non regen detent to get to the regen dump feature. Many people don't even know its available. Mine won't get to that position unless I open my door due to stick location.

My NH/Zexel valve body has two spools. The inboard one moves the FEL unit (or the snow blower) up and down. The outboard spool moves the bucket curl up or down or rotates the discharge chute left or right on the snow blower.

The inboard spool has a detent that will alow the FEL/bucket to "float". To engage this the stick is pushed all the way forward until it locks up with the detent. It will stay in that mode, hands free, until you pull the stick back and it pops out of float mode.

The Non-Regen spool was installed on the outboard circuit. The inboard spool is a Regen type.
