I was running some flux cored stainless 308LT1 045 today. Magical stuff even on straight CO2. The all position welds were simple, fast and nice looking. The problem was my CO2 flowmeter. I had lost the little disc that goes into the nut to seal from leaks. Question is, Who dreamt up the 320 CGA that requires the disc. There are dozens of tapered style CGA's out there. Why the disc? Rocket Science I guess. I ended up making my own and had a few failures before getting it with doubled up gasket material. It only took 4 tries to get it hooked to the tank without the disc falling on the floor and rolling under a cabinet.

They make a hard nylon (clear or maybe white) washer you can get in plumbing dept of most hardware stores... Just discovered several in my "stuff" bin when looking for soft "rubber" washers to cushion broken air inlet grill mount to my lawn tractor motor...

It's funny you should ask because the fitting on my acetylene "B" tank takes a flat faced CGA fitting the is metal to metal...Think its a CGA 520 .... But it a low pressure connection...

I switched from a traditional regulator to one with a flowmeter. Soon after swapping it out, I lost a whole tank of C25 because I apparently didn't close the main valve. Learned a lesson there. Wondering if flowmeters tend to slow leak more than the traditional double dial?

Get the regulator and flow meters from HF, save a few bucks. You will need an adapter from the regulator to the CO2 valve. Then you are set up for any shielding gas.

This was my next move. The adapter from Western is a part number 806. Screws onto your CO2 tank permanently and you just hook up your regular CGA 580 reg to it.
