BUTT

I'm refinishing a bathroom, put down new Allure vinyl plank flooring.

Now I'm going put the pvc trim around the tub. I realize there are a plethora of sealants/glue.

What would you all suggest to "stick" the pvc to the tub? I'm nailing it to the walls.

thanks.

I use the 45 year siloconized caulking that I use for everything else. I run a bead at the bottom and in the middle, press it into place, clean up the excess and let it sit overnight.

Construction adhesive works best for gluing but you would still need to put some latex or silicone sealant around the top and bottom. GE Silicone seal would work as a one step process I think but it may need to be held in place for some time before it has enough tensile strength to keep the rubber from slipping.

I just looked to make sure. I buy it a case at a time and always have several tubes of it in my truck. It's the DAP Alex white siliconized caulking. It's also a very good glue!!

DAP ALEX the same stuff I use and it does work very well as decent glue. :D

Was pretty much the best dollar value at my old lumber yard too.

That's it, but I try to avoid the clear stuff if I can. It shrinks too much when it dries

The DAP shrinks like crazy. I've had so many perfectly caulked seams open up that I'm wondering if I want to use it again. That said, it's a latex and wouldn't be my first choice as an adhesive. If I was gluing the trim on, I'd use a pure silicone. The stuff that smells like vinegar. For caulking in a bathroom, I use the GE Kitchen and Bath line of sealants. It has a mildewicide in the product so it won't grow mold.

I would use any 100% silicone adhesive/sealant. For different materials attached to ceramic tub don't use latex, you don't know for sure how it will react with that material. Maybe shrink, or bleed out, or not even stick well. Just a few dabs go a long way, only prob is you may have to hold it in place for a while, until it starts to set, or have some sort of jig ready to hold in place while silicone sets. Good luck, whichever way you go.
