This morning I started up my BX2660, and 10 seconds later I heard a "click" from under the hood and the engine shut off. I turned the key off, restarted the engine, and in another 5-10 seconds it did it again. It did that 4 times, then it started and ran without issue. It sounds like a relay is clicking off, shutting down the engine.

Has anyone had this happen?
Any suggestions on a remedy?

This has been discussed before..search the forum on starter relay, stop solenoid...appears it's been various things but most stem back to faulty wiring on safety switches or bad relays or solenoids.

One discussion even mentioned bad fuel or even wrong fuel (i.e. gas vs. diesel by mistaking the gas container and pouring it vs grabbing the diesel container).

Good luck!

I would check the ignition switch and the fuel shut off circut. The BX1500 shuts down by energizing the fuel shut off solenoid and my L4400 does the same. Assuming your BX2660 is the same, it sounds as though the fuel shut off solenoid is energizing while the key is in the run position. The shut down normally goes like this: tractor running turn key to off position and then the fuel shut off solenoid energizes and shuts down the tractor after a few seconds the relay deinergizes and its ready for another start.

OK...That's enough info to get me headed in the right direction. Sounds like the fuel shut off solenoid or key switch is the culprit. I can probably isolate which one is causing the problem and go from there.

Thanks for the replies.....Very helpful!

I don't know if your Model has a seat switch but my L39 will shut off if I leave the seat for one minute. I know some owners had defective seat switches. Something else to contemplate.
