I'm think about replacing the standard indcandescent lighting on my trailer with LEDs. Has anyone out there tried this?

It looks a bit pricey, it sounds like the added reliability would be worth it.

Thanks.

I can't see the added reliability being an important improvement. Bulbs just don't blow out if everything else is up to snuff like grounds and vibration isolation. The benefit that I see with LED is instant on and lower power demand. I have standard OTR style lights on my trailer and they work just fine. My pickup has 145000 miles and nearly 10 years on the OEM lights except for one reverse light and the headlights which I threw out to buy the gimmick silverstars.

My brother and I replaced the lights on our utility trailer with led's when we replaced the decking. They look great and seem to be brighter. One thing we did was cut the light brackets off the sides of the trailer and welded a piece of channel under the gate and mounted the led light's in there to protect them

Incandescent bulbs will and do burn out. The filament releases tungsten every second they are lit. They have a limited life span, just ask the manufacturers.
The LED is instant on for the most part and much brighter and cooler operating than standard incandescent bulbs.

I run a truck fleet and have LEDs on SOME of the trucks, they are much more reliable than standard bulbs. On the trucks with incandescent bulbs we require the drivers to do an inspection DAILY for burnt out bulbs, the LEDs simply eliminate that as an issue. The reality is that trailers often have cheap electrical systems, minimal vibration isolators, etc. The LEDs will are not subject to vibration damaging the filaments, burnout, etc.

I replaced tail light on my jeep with LED, they are brighter and IMHO safer. Also the instant turn on - unlike bulbs with the slower process of brightening up - gets more attention.

I like them a lot - from TSC.
